Have you ever seen those Instagram photos with people posing in front of incredible murals in Vancouver? I have and I wanted to find out where they were! This year was the first ever Vancouver Mural Fest and Vancouver was flooded with gorgeous mural pieces all across the city. There were 51 contributing artists for this year's festival and the Call for Submissions for the 2017 Vancouver Mural Fest are open till January 31st, 2016. I plan on checking out all the murals in the future (hence why this is just vol.1).
This is one of the more recent additions to the City of Vancouver as part of the More Awesome Now Project.
The project, located in the alley south of Hastings Street between Granville and Seymour streets (Metro News) is an amazing pink, orange, yellow and purple alley that has become a space for play and for impromptu photo shoots.
My friend, Jade, and I spent the day wandering around Gastown and we just came upon this space when driving by. We both had a minor jolt of excitement because we love a good background for our Instas ;)
After we got our photos, we continued our hunt onto South Granville street!
THIS was the one mural that I was desperately wanting to find and I was so pleased when we found it! It is located on the side of the Ian Tan Gallery at Granville Street and West 7th Avenue and it was painted by artist Kristofir Dean .
Fast forward to a few weeks ago, when I decided to check out the Eastside Culture Crawl for the first time ever and it was AMAZING. I met up with my friend, Carolyn, and we did some exploring in East Vancouver!
