I was that kid who frequently borrowed the fictional cartoon called "Monet & Me" which was about this little girl who befriended Claude Monet. I remembered being DEVASTATED when I found out that he had been gone for a long time and that I would never get the chance to become friends with him and explore his gardens. Well, the dream is to still one day explore his gardens at Giverny but that's for another day.
I first learned about Monet with I was in 2nd grade in Ms Meyer's class and he was the chosen artist for that year. I was hooked. After that, every year I made sure Santa *cough* Mom* included a Monet calendar in my stocking.
There is just something about his work that feels like something out of a dream and I've been obsessed ever since.
The Claude Monet's Secret Garden exhibition is on now at the Vancouver Art Gallery until October 1st and I HIGHLY recommend checking it out.
As a Vancouver Art Gallery Young Associates Member, I get to attend their annual party and this year it was called "Rendezvous on the Rooftop" and it was held, of all places, on the rooftop! WHAT. A. VIEW.
